Keeping the View
When the choice to extend or move presented itself
- the solution was as clear as the spectacular
view for these homeowners. Needs
change over time. When the children grow up it's
time to focus on a new lifestyle.
"The view is so fantastic, and we've been
here so long, we just didn't want to move. We
decided to extend and remodel instead."

Timeless Flair
The original 1940's four room clinker brick home
was purchased in 1992 by the current owners. It
underwent its first extension in 1996, adding
two much needed bedrooms at the rear of the residence,
sidling a hallway.
The decision to extend and remodel was taken after
consideration of the existing investment in the
home and area. "We looked at moving to a
larger house but by the time we paid stamp duty
and moved it..."

Three Generations
Moving in together posed a few problems for this
three generational family comprising daughter,
mother and grandmother. "We couldn't live
on top of each other any longer," says the

Smart & Stylish
on a Budget
It's often a difficult decision when renovating
or extending a home: whether to strictly maintain
the original character or seek a design that will
bring it more in line with the times.
The Heritage Overlay on this tired 1927 property
didn't perturb this family from moving forward
with their ideas, but it did slow up the process
somewhat, stretching the project's timeline and

Moving Up
As with so many families who are established in
an area, Mark and Bernadette made the decision
to extend and renovate rather than move when their
family started to outgrow their three-bedroom
Californian bungalow in the Melbourne suburbs.
With the creation of space as the main priority
and limited land area as the major challenge,
it made perfect sense to add an upper floor.

house into a dream home was the challenge given
to the design team at Hille's Home Extensions.

whilst adding a second storey with additional
bedrooms and bathroom.

Modern Makeover
A wonderful high view over a golf course and onto
Mount Cooper encouraged this family to open up
the front of their home. Previously, this 1965
brick residence on an odd shaped block only had
a small
door opening onto the front verandah above the
garage and storage area. With grown up children,
it was the right time to update their home and
focus on kitchen, dining and entertainment areas.

Family Room
Although this home was loaded with period charm
and appeal, it bore the hallmarks of most semis
of its era - it was a small home that had a dark,
cavernous feel.
When this family approached Hille's Home Extensions
they had a fair idea about the result they wanted
for their original Victorian semi. "We knew
what we wanted, shopped around and found HHE was
well..."

The Finishing Touch
The original single storey 1940's brick home had
earlier undergone owner builder improvements,
including ground floor remodelling and the addition
of a basic first floor on three separate occasions
over the years. Lyn explains that after the family
decided to take the plunge in home extension again,
"we went straight to Hille's Home Extensions
this time!"
